💡 If you apply, we'd love you to tell us about the most challenging design problem you’ve worked on and share your most recent work.
The Lead Product Designer:
At Edvo, we are building the next generation of tools for interpersonal computing. That means we have to shed some traditional assumptions about UI affordances, and think way outside the box. We think of the interface as being like a game – where people can construct, navigate, and collaborate in their universes of knowledge.
In a nutshell, we believe it's important to break out of expectations of the "traditional" application UI – where everything is rectilinear, transitions between views work a certain narrow way, and relationships are static. Our goal is to be effective at conveying relationships efficiently. Some visual elements should indeed stay still and appear in a conventional way, but some visual elements should wiggle, move, stretch, distort, orbit, swirl, shrink into nothing, grow from a point to something recognizable, vary in opacity and so forth – all of which needs to be smooth and high quality, like a video game. We want to leverage visual, temporal (and maybe even acoustic) metaphors to create the maximum understanding within the available attention span.
You’ll have a prominent voice in all product design decisions, while working closely with highly collaborative and cross-functional team members to plan, design, and implement.
Given the nature of the problem, our product is large and we are still building basic, critical “table-stakes” functionality. Basic does not mean that these functionalities are not complex.
We will look to you to:
- Collaborate with the team to develop a deep understanding and outcomes of these functionalities;
- Translate the understanding into visual references for the team to align on, and that can be used to facilitate product design ideation;
- Investigate user feedback to translate pain points into product ideation, and complex user flows into simple UIs.
- Collaborate with our Product team on the product design process, including providing feedback on the planning, executing, synthesizing, and iteration of our product experiments.
What is Edvo?
At Edvo, we care deeply about helping people think well. We believe the next revolution in computing will be Personal Intelligence and Intelligence Augmentation — the same way everyone has a personal computer (now multiple personal computers), we have a thesis that everyone will have a personal database that augments them wherever they are, on whichever device they use.
We're building the most powerful intelligence augmentation engine that ensures people can think well and quickly find valuable insights from the zettabytes of data available at their fingertips.
We're building a team of empathetic and thoughtful individuals who care deeply about how we all think, collaborate, and create. Our current digital environments favor passive consumption, not critical thought, yet billions of people are online to learn, create, and understand the world better.
